GCSE Outcomes 2021/22
This year has seen the return of formal external examinations for the first time in over two years. Praise should rightly be given to all of the Year 11 students at the Academy who have endured significant disruption to learning throughout their GCSE programmes of study. We are extremely proud of all of our pupils and the results achieved are testament to the hard work and commitment of our pupils and the staff who taught them.
Student Outcomes
Whilst comparisons should not be drawn with previous years in which the assessment of GCSEs was changed due to the pandemic, we are delighted with the student outcomes for this cohort. The number of students achieving Level 5+ in English and Maths has increased since the last time external examinations were sat nationally in 2019.
Out of all of the examinations sat by pupils at the Academy in 2022:
• 58% of all exams sat achieved a 9 – 4 grade
• 9% of all exams received a grade of 9 – 7
• 69% achieved a level 4+ in English
• 61% achieved a level 4+ in Mathematics
• 80% achieved a Level 4+ in PE with 20% of students achieving the highest grades of 7+
• 9% achieved a Level 7+ in Religious Education
Academy Hall of Famers
Whilst we are exceptionally proud of all of our students, the attainment of the following students is worthy of special mention and commendation:
• Sophie Chapman achieved 4 grade 9s; 5 grade 8s and a Distinction

Principal, Damian McBeath, praised all the students for their hard work:
