KS4 Pathway Options
IT'S YOUR CHOICE. OPTIONS PROCESS 2022.
At our Academy we start the Options process for GCSE in Year 8. This is the year when choosing the next stage of your education is not only an exciting opportunity to start to look at the future, but also a stage of education when choosing what happens next is all about a belief in choice.
We wholeheartedly put every effort into ensuring the very best of education for our young people, and the options process ensures that our commitment to excellence is paramount. As Year 8 start to choose their GCSEs for Years 9-11, we have made sure that the choices on offer are wide and varied. This commitment to choice also helps our young people to have unlimited options as they finish their GCSEs, and head of into the next stage of their educational journey.
The Options booklet below (a replica of what was handed out at the Options Evening on Thursday 24th February, and available at our Academy reception if you would like to have one in your hand) details all of the choices that need to be made.
At The John Wallis Academy, in order to assure real choices for the future, we ensure that all pupils study for the EBacc. This is a suite of qualifications containing the following:
- English Language
- English Literature
- Combined Science OR Triple Science
- Religious Education
- A Humanity - History OR Geography
- A Language - French
(some pupils will be able to study Spanish if they can demonstrate real commitment to studying languages).
Following this, all pupils then choose TWO further subjects from the wider list within the booklet.
All pupils also take part in general Physical Education as part of a completely broad and varied offer.
We are proud of our GCSE offer to all of our pupils, and firmly believe that what we have put forward gives the widest choice for the widest possible set of outcomes. Over the next few weeks you will be able to find links to subject presentations on this page, enabling you to discover further information about each of the subjects. Encourage your child to talk to Subject teachers and staff who are leading the subjects in which they are interested.
You will find a link to the online Sharepoint and Options Form here:
The options choice form (accessed by scanning or clicking on the QR code or by pressing the “Submit my Options Choices” button) needs to be completed by Wednesday 16th March.
We hope that you have found the whole process informative and useful. If you have any questions, please do email me at email@example.com and I will get back to you with any answers that are needed.
