Social, Emotional and Mental Health (including ADHD)

Children and young people may experience a wide range of social and emotional difficulties which manifest themselves in many ways. These may include becoming withdrawn or isolated, as well as displaying challenging, disruptive or disturbing behaviour. These behaviours may reflect underlying mental health difficulties.

Other children and young people may have disorders such as attention deficit disorder, attention deficit hyperactive disorder or attachment disorder. (SEN Code of Practice, January 2015)

Specialist Teaching and Learning Service (STLS)

During 2020-2021 Pandemic, the STLS have created a range of training and information sessions on how to support children that struggle to identify and regulate their emotions.  Whilst these training sessions were initially designed with school staff in mind, they are excellent resources for parents and help to support strategies across school and the home.
