A Level Results 2018-19

Post 16 – A Level, AS Level and BTEC Level 3 Examination Results – 15th August 2019

The Principal, John McParland, is delighted with the achievement of his students who sat their A Level and Level 3 vocational examinations this summer.  He commented “These results are especially pleasing because we are a comprehensive Academy which enters students of all abilities in a wide variety of A Level and Vocational Subjects Post 16.  l am delighted that the hard work of both the students and their teachers has contributed to further improvement in our examination results again this year, in the biggest exam shake up in a generation where students faced harder questions and new syllabuses. Congratulations to everyone on their achievements”.  

We have seen the achievements of our students improve year on year.  In comparison to last year the overall percentage of students with 3 or more qualifications at A* - E or equivalent (including both A Level and vocational courses) rose by 2% and those with 2 or more overall qualifications rose by 4%.  In vocational qualifications many Year 13 students achieved Distinction and Distinction * in a number of Level 3 vocational subjects which include Business, I.T, Applied Science, Health and Social Care and Sport and Physical Activity.    

At The John Wallis Academy there were some outstanding individual successes at A Level:

Renee Akpojewa
achieved a grade A* in Sociology, an A in English Literature, and a C in Psychology.

Ellen O’Keefe, Head Girl, achieved a grade A in History, an A in Drama and a B in French.

Lewis Banks 
achieved a grade A in English Literature, an A in Psychology and a C in Biology.

Daisy Mai Hammond
achieved a grade A* in Art, a B in Biology and a C in Spanish.

Holly Prue
achieved a grade A Sociology, a B in English Literature and a C in Psychology.

Joshua Churm
, Head Boy, achieved a grade B in History, a B in Law and a B in Sociology.

Millie Lee
achieved a grade B in Geography, a B in Sociology and a C in Psychology. 

Jake Dean
achieved a grade B in Geography, a C in Law and a C in Sociology. Jake also achieved a Distinction* in BTEC Level 3 Sport and Physical Activity.  

The majority of students achieved places at their first choice university.  Head Girl, Ellen O’Keefe, will read History at the University of Reading and Joshua Churm, Head Boy, will read Law at the University of Sussex. 

Mr McParland went on to say “I am very proud of all our students and how they have adapted to the challenges of a more demanding traditional exam based system.  Our students deserve the highest praise for their commitment and hard work as do our teachers for their expertise, support and generosity of time outside of school hours, to enable our students to achieve the best results possible.  I wish our students every happiness and success in the next phase of their education and career choice.”
