GCSE Examination Results 2018-19


The students and staff at The John Wallis Academy are very  pleased with the GCSE results which exemplify the excellent progress students continue to make at our 2-19 Academy.


The Principal, John McParland, commented: “Congratulations to our students who can be justly proud of their achievements which bear witness to their hard work and determination to succeed when faced with the biggest exam shake up in a generation where most subjects at GCSE are now more challenging in both content and in the terminal examination.  Although the results need to be ratified by the DfE, the Academy has once again achieved a Positive Progress 8 score.  This means that on average students have made better than expected progress.  Two students who made particularly excellent progress and far exceeded their target grades by 3- 5 grades on average in all subjects are Ishaaq Limbu and Rabin Limbu.”  


The results of the following students in attainment, in particular, deserve individual recognition:


  • Julia Dubczak: Grade 9 in Religious Studies and Polish; Grade 8 in Geography and Art; Grade 7 in Biology, Chemistry, English Literature, Maths and Physics; Grade 6 in English Language; Grade 5 in French and Pass in Health Studies.

  • Sam Marsh: Grade 9 in Religious Studies and English Literature; Grade 9 and Grade 8 in Combined Science; Grade 8 in History; Grade 6 in English Language; Grade 5 in Mathematics and Grade 5 in Statistics.

  • Ishaaq Limbu: Grade 8 in Chemistry, History, Mathematics and Physics; Grade 7 in Biology, Computer Science and Religious Studies; Grade 6 in Geography; Grade 5 in English Language, English Literature and French.  

  • Daisy Brown: Grade 8 in English Language and Religious Studies; Grade 7 in English Literature; Grade 6 in Geography, Mathematics, History, Photography and two Grade 6s in Combined Science and a Distinction in Health Studies.

  • Elsa Rai: Grade 8 in Religious Studies; Grade 7 in English Language, English Literature and Mathematics; Grade 6 in Biology, Physics; Grade 5 in Chemistry; Grade 4 in Computer Science and Distinction in Health Studies.

  • Jacob Godfrey: Grade 7 in Chemistry, Physics, Geography, Mathematics and Religious Studies; Grade 6 in Biology, Computer Science, English Language; Grade 5 in English Literature, French and Photography.

  • Mingsohang Limbu: Grade 7 in English Literature, Geography, Mathematics, Religious Studies; Grade 6 in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and History; Grade 5 in Computer Science, English Language and French.


Mr McParland went on to say:  “We wish our students continued success in the future. We are confident that their determination to succeed and commitment to their studies will enable them to reach their full potential and to be successful and happy in the future.  I look forward to welcoming many of our students in September as they return to continue their Post 16 studies at the Academy.  I am also very grateful to our teachers and support staff who have worked tremendously hard to help our students to achieve their success.”
