Reward & Conduct (Primary)

Across the Primary phase of the Academy we strive to ensure that there is a consistent approach to behaviour management, whilst we understand the pupils in mini schools often have different needs due to their age, we aim to ensure that there is a consistent and while school approach to behaviour; and that this encompasses the principles of positive behaviour and is underpinned by our Christian values. We recognise that behaviour management can be a complex issue from time to time and as such we do not see difficulties as failure, staff are strongly encouraged to discuss key issues and plan for positive intervention programmes, aimed at reducing the frequency and type of behaviour.

Within each mini-school the focus remains on early intervention and prevention, rather than reactive strategies. Staff always recognise that it is the behaviour that requires modification and importantly not the pupil. In some pupils cases we will consider an Individual Behaviour Support Plan (IBSP), which will be written by the class teacher and SENCO, and parents will be actively involved, again to ensure consistency. All staff working with pupils on IBSP should be aware and have access to the plan, in order to ensure consistency.
